Spades Plus is a free card mobile video game wherein you can play Spades against other people from around the world. Developed by Zynga, this online card game features various other game modes for you to try out and enjoy. Plus, you can create your own custom game and invite friends and family to join you. Take note that this is purely online, and you can’t play offline, even with just your own match against AI.
How do you play Spades Plus?
Spades is an American trick-taking card game descended from the Whist family of card games. Its major difference compared to other Whist variants is that instead of the trump being decided by the highest bidder or at random, the Spade suit always trumps. You play it by either doing solo or with a partner, and the goal is to take the number of tricks that were bid before play of the hand began.
In Spades Plus, the game is meant for four players working in pairs. Similar to the traditional rules, you win by being the first to reach a certain score—in this case, either 300, 400, or 500, depending on the room’s rules. There are three game modes available at the start: Classic Spades, Special Rooms, Tournament Solo. You only unlock the Knock-Out Challenge after reaching Lv 5. Under Special Rooms are other modes, as well—like VIP, Solo, Whiz, and Mirror.
Is Spades Plus free?
You can pretty much play Spades Plus for free. You even have the option to play with a guest account or link either your Google or Facebook accounts. Winning nets you higher rankings, more coins to spend as your bets, and gorgeous deck collections to use in your matches. However, if you’re having a hard time winning, you can purchase from the in-game shop.
You can get coins, cash, and even cool stuff like animated emojis, table colors, and certain card gameplay features. However, purchasing these with the in-game currency will only let you use them for a week or so. It requires the monthly subscription plans to unlock them for unlimited use. Aside from this, the game is actually not suited for beginners as the tutorial is hidden inside the settings. It is not even a hands-on tutorial to show you the ropes.
Not for everyone
Overall, Spades Plus is a fun and challenging game for Spades lovers and enthusiasts. Here, you can easily find fellow players and hone your skills further. However, earning enough to unlock some of the cool customizations can take a while, and they’re not even permanent. Additionally, this game isn’t beginner-friendly as it doesn’t teach them how to play at the start.
